...They’re delayed and show up whenever they fancy? Maybe, but for this update, the news has come all at once, and so decided to type it all out in case you’ve not seen, or just fancy it being presented in a few fancy paragraphs. Snapshot has been selected to screen at the BIFA qualifying Wigan & Leigh Film Festival. It’s festival premiere! And it will be screening there on the 24th September, where Producer Sam Barnett and I will be attending to also be interviewed about the short.
It’s come as a nice uplift, having somewhat of a comedown after working on Snapshot for so long, attempting to preoccupy the creative spaces in between my often hectic personal life and its shortcomings. A sigh of relief as well, that others appreciate and enjoy what the short has to offer, especially as the story comes from such a personal place. My other update sees me Directing an up and coming Horror Short in Sheffield of a script written by Jacob Welby, who was Script Supervisor on Snapshot, and is one of many in my endless list of names to thank, having been of great help to me with attempting to put my words and thoughts on to paper, and structure it within a 15 minute short.
Unlike Snapshot, there will be more up and coming updates and insights into the development of this project, as we plan to shoot it within the next few weeks! It will be great to get back into Directing again, as well as venture into a premise and genre I’ve rarely explored before. Out of my comfort zone and somewhere leftfield, the prospect’s exciting!
It may not seem like a lot, but I suppose it is quality over quantity, both two important next stages within my filmmaking and where it stands. In between that's also worth a mention, I have submitted off various other application forms and pieces, alongside Snapshot’s film festival submissions, and continue to play this waiting game of hypothetical buses.
